FEBS/EMBO sessions on Women in Science at the annual FEBS Congress and the annual EMBO Meeting

EMBO is collaborating with the Women in Science (WISE ) Committee of FEBS . Both groups co-organize the FEBS/EMBO Women in Science workshop session at the annual FEBS Congress and at the annual EMBO Meeting.

• Strategies & Programmes to Facilitate Careers for Women , Vienna 2007

A Gerlind Wallon (EMBO) and Maaike Romijn (NWO, NL) spoke about strategies and programmes to facilitate careers for women in the life sciences.

• The UK Athena Project: The way forward , Istanbul 2006

Nancy Lane , Professor of Biology at Cambridge University, chair of the Athena Project and director of the Cambridge WiSETI initiative talked about the UK Athena Project .

• Creating Awareness: Lessons from the MIT study , Budapest 2005

Nancy Hopkins, Professor of Biology at the MIT, gave a talk on Women Faculty in Science and Engineering at MIT. The talk was followed by a panel discussion session.

• Women in Science Workshop, Warsaw 2004

Two workshops were organized by the FEBS WISE group at the FEBS congress in Warsaw entitled "Life time career planning" and "What made the difference" .

SET-Routes conference

In collaboration with EMBL and CERN an International Women in Science Conference The Way Forward was organized on May 2007 to bringing together scientists, politicians and other decision-makers, the aim is to inspire participants to take action that will help attract women into science and keep them there.
