Science Policy

for a world-class European research environment

Building on more than a decade of creating dialogue between scientists and society, EMBO is well positioned to analyze and advise on public policy in Europe and the needs of scientists. We expect to anticipate emerging science and research policy issues by seeking input and feedback from our community and by following closely the trends in science in Europe.

While policy affects scientists, scientists also affect policy. We aim to encourage dialogue between scientists, policymakers and other stakeholders to facilitate debate, offer advice on policy options, and monitor key issues.

We will address issues such as research funding, working conditions for researchers, responsible research conduct, the place of science in society, gender balance in science, the governance of scientific research and its resulting technologies, and the structure of research programmes.
